No one can make every single
chapter meeting, so we need a channel to share news and
communicate ideas. Newsletters are one of the best
ways to communicate chapter activities, plans and interests.
What makes a good newsletter?
Here's some ideas from the judging criteria of our National
Newsletter Competition at Gold Rush:
-
Chapter
Officers names and contact information clearly displayed
-
Chapter Logo
(if there is one) evident
-
Chapter Name
prominently used throughout the newsletter
-
Recent
Chapter Events reported in an exciting way
-
Upcoming
Chapter Events discussed in a stimulating way
-
Upcoming
State, Regional and National Events highlighted
-
Photographs
and artwork attractively used
-
Readability
is good and easy
-
Color adds to
the interest level
-
Safety/Educational articles encouraged
-
Meeting times
and dates include directions
Chapters are also encouraged
to seek advertisers to offset the costs of printing and
distribution. (Most Honda dealers will make a modest
investment if you give them some advertising space.)
If you get stuck on how to do
a newsletter, look at examples from other GWTA chapters in
your State or Region. You will find that the editors
of those publications will likely help you with advice and
support.
For Chapter Olympics credit,
at least 4 of your Chapter newsletters must be received by
the National office by May 15th, 2006:
GWTA
National Office 2415 Directors Row, Suite K Indianapolis, IN 46241 (317) 243-6822
