Don't you wonder what ever
happened to those members who just stop coming to chapter
meetings? Did something happen that you don't know
about? Was there something you could have done to make
the situation better? Or was there something happening
far beyond your influence?
Time to stop wondering, and
become pro-active in the process.
One thing fun, successful
chapters do is send out a notice to those members whose
memberships are about to expire. Another thing fun,
successful chapters do is survey those members who elect not
to renew, and then try to learn from their feedback and
comments about what could be done to improve the Chapter
environment.
Neither the notice or the survey
are guaranteed to make all members stay with your chapter.
But having something like these tools will be better than
not doing anything for your friends who are leaving this
great organization.
Feel free to customize the
Expiration Survey for you and your chapter. You might
want to print these on colorful paper, and/or include a
special
letter with each. As always, you are encouraged to do
what works best for you and your chapter.
For other retention ideas,
consider the following:
-

program to ‘check-in’ with members who have not been
active for several months.
-
Chapter
has a “Family Reunion” meeting, inviting past members to
participate in at least one meeting a year.
-

assigns a member to monitor and follow-up on those whose
memberships are about to expire.
-
Chapter keeps
track of expiring memberships on a monthly basis.
-

memberships are about to expire.
-

respectful, sensitive survey of those members who elect to let their
memberships expire.
-

including ideas of other chapters that might be more
convenient.
