Hello Everyone,
I'm Karen Quinn and I'm going to tell you a story about our
little
friend
Waldo and his adventures for the last year. He arrived at
our home in Tennessee on March 20, 2007. He and his family
were welcomed with open arms. They rested for a while and
cleaned up after a long journey. He had a great time while
he was here. He spent every holiday and every trip we took
with us.
In April he had fun with the Easter Bunny, he eat too much
chocolate and threw up in the back yard. A little Pepto and
he was as good as new.
In
May he went to the State Rally at Defeated Creek Campground.
He laughed, joked, and played games. He worked the raffle
and sold several tickets. He is quiet the salesman, but then
again who can say no to that sweet little face.
In June we all went to Miss BoBo's boarding house for lunch
in Lynchburg Tn. He had too many helpings of apples; they
were made with Jack Daniels. We had to tie down to keep him
in the car on the way home. He was one happy fellow; he didn't
wake up for 2 days after that trip.
In July he celebrated the 4th of July with a cookout for
our families. Then there was the Gold Rush trip to South Dakota.
He had a great time and enjoyed the bike rides and the sites
along the way. He went to the dance and danced with all the
pretty girls. He loves to dance, he is a dancing fool. The
DJ really liked him and played all his favorite songs. Waldo
was a little heart broken when he asked Jennifer to dance
and she ran away. Jennifer, Waldo does not understand why
you always run away when he comes around. You really need
to talk to him about this.

In August and September he went to the Region Rally in Maggie
Valley NC, it is always Labor Day weekend. He enjoyed riding
the Blue Ridge Pkwy, shopping in Gatlinburg, and the 9 scoop
banana split in Church Hill Tn. He never knows when to quit,
so again he was sick all the way back to North Carolina.
In
October he went with us to Cruising the Coast in Gulf Port,
Ms. There was car after car cruising up and down the strip,
new ones. old ones, funny ones, not so funny ones, and some
that did need to be there. Jim took his 67 Chevy Nova. Waldo
was aloud to drive it once and only once. There was a guy
from Alabama, he was wanting to race Waldo could not resist.
Waldo took off and shortly there after at 104 mph, there was
a loud blast. We looked over and the other car was slowing
down, the engine blew. Waldo made the poor guy blow up his
motor. After that no more driving for Waldo.
In November he spent Thanksgiving with us and enjoyed having
family and friends over. He said he was thankful to be with
us.
In December, Christmas came and he got a new pin for his
jacket. Santa was very good to him and his family, by the
time Santa got to our house he was tired, so Waldo being the
sweet and sensitive guy he is helped Santa deliver the rest
of the toys. Waldo helped make Christmas possible for a lot
of children.
In
January we celebrated the New Year. When it got cold outside
we would stay in and snuggle up by the fire and talk about
some of the fun trips we have taken and look at pictures.
Jim and I got to talking about the trip we took to Jamaica
in 2006 when my daughter got married and what fun we had.
Waldo listened intently, he said Jamaica sounds like a great
place and wants to go there some time.
In February it was time for Waldo and his family to get packed
up and ready to leave. He been with us almost a year and he
would be going to his new family soon. This made Waldo very
sad. He would not eat and could not sleep. He wouldn't talk
he just moped around the house. Then that dreaded day came
when it was time to go. No Waldo, we looked and looked No
Waldo. We called everyone we knew that might know where he
could be Still No Waldo. We called the police and they put
out an APB on Waldo. In the mean time I remembered something
Waldo had asked so many questions about Jamaica. Could he
have gone there? Yes he did tanning, surfing, and feeling
warm tropic breeze in his hair. When I asked him why he went
there he said that he was going to help search for Natalie
Holloway. I said nice try wrong island he then said he didn't
want us to send him away. I explained that his new family
was great and that he and his family would be very happy there.
I told him he would be living with Mike and Carol Brush in
Nebraska. He was happy again he said he had heard they were
a super family. After great big hugs and kisses I opened the
box he jumped in and along with a photo journal. Down to the
UPS store, a stamp here and a stamp there off to Nebraska
he goes. We will miss you Waldo and family.
